Nigeria Police To Host The International Association Of Women’s Police Conference

In a significant stride towards fostering gender sensitivity and empowerment, the Nigeria Police Force is poised to host the International Association of Women Police Africa Chapter Training Conference 2024 which aims to bring together women in law enforcement globally to share insights, best practices, and strategies for advancing women’s roles in policing and enhancing their contributions to national security.

This was revealed by the Chairman of the Central Working Committee and the Force Gender Advisor, AIG Aishatu Abubakar Baju, on Thursday, 9th May 2024 while briefing media at the Force Headquarters, Abuja

The International Association of Women Police Africa Chapter Training Conference is scheduled to take place from July 2nd – 5th, 2024, in Abuja, themed “Addressing Africa’s Security Challenges and Safety through Collaboration and Inclusivity.”

“Participants from all 54 African countries, including international delegates, will convene to empower, unify, and elevate women in law enforcement, in alignment with the United Nations Development Programme’s goals of gender equality, sustainable development, peace, and community resilience,” AIG Aishatu Baju said.

The AIG emphasized the importance of the event for Africa and the pioneering role of the Nigeria Police Force in hosting this prestigious gathering.

“It is a great privilege to host the International Association of Women Police Training Conference and look forward to engaging with the media practitioners, civil society, and sponsors to ensure the success of the conference.

She concluded that this year’s event will set the stage for transformative change, promoting gender inclusivity and equality in law enforcement across Africa.

The conference will feature distinguished female leaders, including Presidents, vice presidents, top technocrats, and prominent business figures from Africa and around the world, highlighting the increasing influence of women in leadership roles. Expert facilitators will lead training sessions on various subjects, sharing knowledge and best practices to enhance the professional development of participants.

The consulting partner, Eden Integrated Services Limited explained that the event marks a significant step towards promoting gender equity in law enforcement. The International Association of Women Police is a global organization dedicated to empowering women in law enforcement and other security agencies, with a mission to strengthen and elevate the capabilities of women in the field of public safety.
