The Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has proceeded on his annual leave and has transferred powers to his Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, to act in his stead while he is away.
A statement on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Daniel Alabrah, disclosed that during the period of the governor’s absence, the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, will take charge of all state functions.
This is not the first time the governor has transferred power to his deputy, further cementing the administration’s respect for democratic ideals as enshrined in the 1999 constitution.
