A New Year’s Gift: FCT Police Command Delivers Joy On December 31, 2024

On the early morning of December 31, 2024, along Apo Dutse Road in FCT Abuja, a remarkable event unfolded that transformed a potential disaster into a moment of joy. At approximately 5:00 AM, the diligent operatives of the Scorpion Squad, led by ASP Momoh, were on their routine patrol when they spotted a grey Toyota Corolla, registration number KWL 738 BB. The car’s lone occupant appeared nervous and fidgety at the wheel, raising the squad’s suspicions.

Without hesitation, the officers flagged the vehicle down. In a dramatic turn of events, the driver jumped out and fled into the nearby bushes! The quick-thinking operatives conducted an immediate digital analysis of the car’s documents and discovered that it belonged to Mr Kaseem Mustapha, who was blissfully asleep at home.

Upon contacting him, the officers asked a few questions about his vehicle. To his shock, Mr Mustapha rushed out of his house to find that his car had indeed been taken from its parking spot. The moment he arrived at the scene and saw his car safely recovered, a wave of relief and joy washed over him.

“I can’t believe it! Thank you so much!” he exclaimed, his face lighting up with happiness as he embraced the officers. “You’ve turned what could have been a terrible end to my year into the best New Year’s gift I could ever ask for!”

His friends gathered around, sharing in the excitement and gratitude. They congratulated the officers for their swift action and dedication, which had made all the difference on this last day of the year. As a lighthearted touch, the team even recovered a pair of slippers abandoned by the fleeing thief during the chase.

In a further gesture of commendable community engagement, FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, took the opportunity to advise residents on vehicle security. He emphasized the importance of installing security gadgets on vehicles to prevent theft. “In the unfortunate event of a theft, these devices can significantly assist the police in recovery efforts,” he noted, encouraging everyone to take proactive steps to protect their property.

With the necessary checks completed, the vehicle was promptly returned to Mr Mustapha, who left with a heart full of gratitude and a renewed sense of security. This incident not only highlights the commitment of the FCT Police Command to ensure the safety of residents but also serves as a shining example of the positive impact of community policing.

As we step into the New Year, the joy of Mr. Mustapha’s recovery reminds us that even in challenging times, there are reasons to celebrate and be thankful. Here’s to a safe and joyful year ahead, filled with stories of hope and community spirit!
