Rivers Crisis: Plot To Impeach Fubara, Height Of Political Insensitivity And Subjugation Of Rights Of Riverine Axis Of Rivers State – Eze

….. Calls Fubara’s Invitation Of Amaewhule And Co-Travellers, A Masterstroke Strategy

….. Describes Tony Okocha As An Impostor

…. By Supporting Wike’s Devious Mission In Rivers State, Tinubu Has Lost Support Of Niger Deltans

“…..Chief Eze warned that the present plot to impeach the first riverine Governor and replace him with another upland person as Governor is simply asking for calamity for the State.

He submitted that any wise leader who understands the politics of Rivers State will not support such a dubious venture that may put the country’s democracy into a comatose situation…..”

Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC ) has alleged that the protracted political crisis in Rivers State has continued unabated because the FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike is being supported by President Bola Tinubu.

Chief Eze said Wike’s war against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and peaceful governance of Rivers State is aimed at cornering the resources of the State for use in their 2027 political ventures.

Basically, to actualize their evil plot, the APC stalwart said, Wike with the support of the Presidency is championing the plot to impeach Governor Fubara, in order to install former Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, as Governor.

Eze’s reaction to the recent developments given the crisis rocking the State was contained in a statement he issued in Port-Harcourt, on Tuesday.

Obviously, Wike is capitalizing on his unholy political marriage to President Tinubu to destabilize Rivers State and distract Governor Fubara, solely to ensure that their stooge, Amaewhule becomes Governor to enable them rig the 2027 general elections in Rivers State.

“Sadly, for Tinubu and Wike, these evil and undemocratic plots to remove Fubara from office will not only fail like a pack of cards but will rather strengthen and energize Fubara in his concerted efforts to rescue the State from the shackles of vandals parading themselves as lawmakers, Eze said.

“I have counselled President Tinubu from the beginning that his romance with Wike will not only destroy APC as a political party but will stain his political career as a democrat.

The outspoken politician explained that the plot to impeach or remove Fubara from the Brick House will not see the light of the day in view of the fact that Tinubu and those supporting Wike, may not know much about Rivers State politics, which is divided amongst two blocks – The Upland and Riverine Axis.

It may interest the public to note that the upland axis of the State has through Dr. Peter Odili, Rt. Hon. Barr Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, and Chief Nyesom Wike governed Rivers State for 24 years, while the riverine axis through Sir. Fubara is just governing the State.

The APC stalwart maintained that disrupting and bringing the administration of Fubara to an abrupt end, amounts to subjugation of the Ijaw nation and other riverine ethnic nationalities. “It is height of political insensitivity” to humiliate an Ijaw governor out of office because of one man’s sheer greed and dictatorial tendencies.

Chief Eze warned that the present plot to impeach the first riverine Governor and replacing him with another upland person as Governor is simply asking for calamity for the State.

He submitted that any wise leader who understands the politics of Rivers State will not support such a dubious venture that may put the country’s democracy into a comatose situation.

Not minding the sordid situation of things in the State, Chief Eze commended Governor Fubara for behaving himself calmly and by ignoring some funny acts of the so called defected lawmakers in the State who are busy igniting fire that may jeopardize the development of the State.

At this juncture, Eze admonished Martin Amaewhule and his co-travellers to wake up from their fantasy, and stop making mockery of the serious agenda of lawmaking and turning the Rivers State House of Assembly into a comedy theater.

“Amaewhule and his bandwagon of defectors lack what it takes to order a sitting Governor around. They have called Fubara unprintable names and abused him publicly, not knowing that they are denigrating and desecrating the office of governor of Rivers State.

“If Wike is still the governor of Rivers state, can anybody try what he is doing to Fubara? Can he stomach this political crisis? If not that Fubara is a peace loving man, amiable, wise, humane, respectful and easy going man, Wike and the Presidency would have seen what fire does to the ears of a rat.

It is on record that Governor Fubara had reached out to the rebellious lawmakers for a truce which they rebuffed.

Reacting on the attitude of the lawmakers, Chief Eze, said they should stop playing God and acting as if Rivers State can not move forward with out them.

“It is ominous and inauspicious behaviour; an affront on the highly reverred office of the governor of Rivers State, for the lawmakers to shun
a peaceful invitation by Governor Fubara for a meeting.

However, Eze commended Governor Fubara for that bold initiative of extending a formal invitation to Amaewhule and his co-travellers to discuss and iron out ways to resolve the political imbroglio consuming Rivers State.

Eze described the invitation for a meeting as a “political masterstroke strategy” stressing by refusing to honour the invitation, the world now knows that “this bunch of anarchists are very determined to undermine the peace of Rivers State and are to continue to sustain the political confusion in Rivers State that may consume our nascent democracy”.

According to Eze, the meeting was expected to address key issues, including the provision of sitting space for the Assembly, payment of outstanding allowances, and the presentation of the 2025 budget.

The APC media guru also reacted to the recent call by Tony Okocha, for the impeachment of Fubara.

“That inglorious, irresponsible and gutter statement by a demented mind should be ignored with every sense of decency.

Eze called Tony Okocha as an impostor, who claims to be the Chairman of Rivers State APC, insisting that his call for the impeachment of Governor Fubara shows that he is still suffering from dementia and hallucination, and is yet to be cured of his demented State of mind.

According to Eze, the fact remains that any impeachment act against the Governor can only result to anarchy and should not be contemplated in any form.

Meanwhile, Eze described the recent judgment by the Supreme Court as a temporary setback and an ill wind that blows nobody good.

“I laugh when I watch those who claim to love the State rejoicing over an obvious unjust judgement by the Supreme Court knowing very well that such a judgement without any atom of justice can only destroy the State.

Due to bad politics, crisis entrepreneurs and social disruption engineers are shouting their voices hoarse because they do not see and cannot decipher lucidly, what that Supreme Court judgment restraining the release of Federally allocated revenues to Rivers State, means.

“Beyond the inconvenience of putting the smooth running of the business of the Government of Rivers State; the provision of security and basic social contract responsibilities, etc in jeopardy, the Supreme Court may have taken judicial notice of the notorious fact of defection of the 27 lawmakers on December 11, 2023, and how that unresolved legitimacy question sits at the root of the political crisis.

“People should be disciplined enough to sit down and read. They should listen patiently to add to their knowledge. The law does not operate “in vacuo”. It always stands on something. Above all, the principle is well settled that no one can come to equity with dirty hands.

“Falsehoods may travel faster but truth will always catch up with lies” the APC Chieftain stated.

According to Eze, “the issue of status of the defected lawmakers is pending in court, and for the Apex court to order Governor Fubara to represent the State budget to the Amaewhule led Assembly, means the uno numero court in the country has indirectly given legal imprimatur to the defectors.

“Nevertheless, with every sense of decency, patriotism and respect, I am, for the umpteenth time calling on President Tinubu, to continue to be a progressive democrat by not allowing the plot to impeach Fubara, see light of the day.

“Whatever happens in Rivers State, if Fubara is impeached, then posterity will not be fair to President Tinubu. He is a father to Nigerians, and not to Wike. Tinubu should call Wike to order and ensure that peace and sanity return to Rivers State.

“Every discerning and well meaning Nigerian, know that it was President Tinubu that ordered warring parties in Rivers State to sheathe swords for a truce.

“As a responsible man, lover of people of Rivers State, peaceful and God fearing man, Governor Fubara based on the directives of President Tinubu, withdrew all his counter affidavits in court.

“While Fubara obeyed and respected President Tinubu, Wike and his political puppets didn’t withdraw their processes in courts.

“I want Nigerians to note that all the pyrrhic victories recorded by Wike and his hangers-on in court were based on the fact that Fubara did not controvert all the allegations levelled against him by the ousted lawmakers.

“It is trite law that an uncontroverted affidavit deposition, is taken as truth and factual. So, since Fubara had withdrawn his defence (counter affidavit) of the false allegations made against him in court, all the Judges involved in the matters of Rivers State based their judgments on that legal slip”, Eze explained.

However, Eze added that it wasn’t a “legal slip” sonto say, but that Fubara withdrew his defence in court because of the respect he has for President Tinubu and office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“The question is; why did Wike and his loyalists not withdraw their processes in court despite President Tinubu’s demand? Not hearing a word or condemnation from the Presidency to this act of insubordination, signposts a conspiracy of silence, which lends credence to public perception that Tinubu has a hand in what is happening in Rivers State.

“Now, I repeat, would President Tinubu stand aloof, with excitement, and watch Wike humiliate an elected governor of Rivers State who accorded him due respect? Nigerians, are watching and we have dusted our history books to record whatever the Supreme Court will say in respect of the defected 27 Rivers State lawmakers, Chief Eze stated.

On this note, I appeal to President Tinubu, as a father of Nigerians for now, to investigate forthwith, the travesty of justice going on in the country because of Wike’s involvement in the legal feud in respect of the Rivers State political crisis. Our Judiciary seems perverse and compromised.

The APC Chieftain insisted that allowing Wike to continue to ride roughshod over perceived political enemies and his ceaseless fight against Fubara, will only make Tinubu unpopular in the Niger Delta, ahead the 2027 general elections.
