IGP Egbetokun Didn’t Keep Timothy Gabriel In Solitary Confinement; Sahara Reporters Lied – Youth Alliance

The Integrity Youth Alliance has called on Nigerians to ignore another malicious publication by Sahara Reporters.

Reacting to a publication titled, “TikToker Timothy ‘Tumma’ Gabriel Held In Solitary Confinement Over 33 Days On IGP Egbetokun’s Orders Over Alleged Threat To Reputation’, the National Coordinator of the Alliance, Kelvin Adegbenga said that Timothy Gabriel contravenes Section 24(1) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc) Act (as amended in 2024) criminalizes by sending messages via computer systems that the sender knows to be false, to cause a breakdown of law and order or pose a threat to life.

“We are aware that the case is before a competent law court of which below is an extract of the case, “That you Timothy Gabriel ‘m’ 25 years old of Mpape, Abuja, sometime in February 2025 in Nigeria within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court knowingly or intentionally by means of computer network posted a video on your Tik-Tok account with profile name OFFICIAL_TUMMA (Gabriel_Timothy) a comment in which you falsely stated that the Executive Governor of Lagos State is an armed robber who specialized in robbing the Lagos State Treasury, a statement aimed at threatening the reputation of the Executive Governor of Lagos State and you thereby committed an offence contrary to S.24(2)(a) and punishable under S.24(2)(c)(i) of the Cybercrimes (Prevention, Prohibition etc) Act 2025 (as amended) 2024.”

“Count two reads, “That you Timothy Gabriel ‘m’ 25 years old of Mpape, Abuja, sometime in February 2025 in Nigeria within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court knowingly or intentionally by means of computer network posted a video on your Tik-Tok account with profile name OFFICIAL_TUR _TUMMA (Gabriel_Timothy) aimed at threatening the reputation of the IGP

“It is false and mischievous to say that the IGP is the complainant, investigator, and prosecutor. From the court extract, it can be seen that the accuse mentioned of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Lagos Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu where he dared them to arrest him.

“He described the Executive Governor of Lagos State as ‘an armed robber who specialized in robbing the Lagos State Treasury”, as well as threatening the reputation of the Inspector General of Police by saying “Nigerian commissioner (Inspector General, Kayode Egbetokun) of police wuwaka, your papa.”

“We emphatically say that the Nigeria police didn’t act on their own accord as Cybercrimes (Prevention, Prohibition etc) Act 2025 (as amended) 2024 is very clear on posting false and malicious videos on the above-named Nigerians.

“We, therefore, called on Nigerians to ignore the mischievous publication by Sahara Reporters claiming that “Timothy ‘Tumma’ Gabriel was held in solitary confinement over 33 days on IGP Egbetokun’s orders,” the statement concluded.
