…. Says Vice Admiral Ibas, An Impudent Perpetrator Of Another Layer Of Illegality
… Insists Tinubu, Wike’s Crass Personalization Of Power Can’t Happen In Southeast, Northern Nigeria
“….Without mincing words, Eze contended that happenings within few days of the appointment of Ibas as sole administrator have laid bare the ulterior motive behind the declaration of state of emergency in Rivers State by President Tinubu and subsequent suspension of Governor Fubara.
All these undemocratic acts and flagrant disobedienice to court orders by these anti democratic forces, are technically aimed to handover political structures in Rivers State and the common patrimony to Wike, the statement said. …”
Erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze has condemned in the strongest terms, the appointment of Local Government Administrators for the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers state, by the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok Ette Ibas (rtd), saying the action is a chronic aberration and barefaced slap on Nigeria’s Constitution.
Chief Eze stated that the command and obey leadership style of the sole administrator has earned him the accolade’s as an impudent perpetrator of another layer of illegality, as his appointment ab initio, was a product of full blown illegality and undemocratic act of the highest order.
The APC chieftain posited that if not, Ibas is acting an already drafted devious script; he could not have mustered the courage to display this high level of intransigence in the heat of the nationwide condemnation that trailed his ill-gotten appointment by President Bola Tinubu.
Reacting to the recent appointment of Local Government administrators in Rivers state, Chief Eze, in a statement made available to the media, said more worrisome is the fact that Ibas and his demi-gods have flouted valid orders of courts of competent jurisdictions and continued to make mockery of Nigeria’s Judiciary.
“Before the announcement of the appointments of LG administrators by Ibas, which was stealthily made to steal a march on Rivers’ people, an order of court was obtained asking him to appear and show cause why he should not be restrained from making such unlawful appointments.
“The order was issued Monday, April 7, 2025, by Justice Turaki Mohammed of the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt in Suit No: FHC/PHC/CS/46/2025, between Pilex Centre & Anor v the Administrator, Rivers State.
“Upon being served the court process on Wednesday, April 8, 2025, the Administrator announced the appointment and added that it takes effect from Monday, in a clear attempt to foist on the court a fait accompli and render nugatory any consequential order that may arise from the Applicants’ motion before the court” Eze observed.
Eze noted that Ibas’s insensitive appointments have raised serious constitutional questions, which only President Tinubu, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike; the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio; and their stooge, Vice Admiral Ibas, will answer.
“Section 7 of the Nigerian Constitution clearly provides that ‘Local government administration by democratically elected local government council is guaranteed’, and in the same vein, orders of court are made to be obeyed, Eze submitted, wondering while the Presidency and the National Assembly are hell-bent on ruining democracy and suffocating local government administration in the country.
The former spokesman of the defunct nPDP, also condemned the action of the sole administrator in appointing Chairman and members of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) and announced the conduct of Local Government election in August, describing such decision as uncalled for, pre meditated, bizzare and ill-conceived.
In view of the above summations, Chief Eze was taken aback as to how the temporary mandate of ensuring law and order extended to the dissolution of boards of agencies and parastatals of government, appointment of new boards and conduct of elections.
Without mincing words, Eze contended that happenings within few days of the appointment of Ibas as sole administrator have laid bare, the ulterior motive behind the declaration of state of emergency in Rivers State by President Tinubu and subsequent suspension of Governor Fubara.
All these undemocratic acts and flagrant disobedience to court orders by these anti democratic forces are technically aimed to hand over political structures in Rivers State and the common patrimony to Wike, the statement said.
According to Eze, President Tinubu and Wike cannot try this constitutional aberration and rape of Nigeria’s democracy in any of the Southeast States, let alone, Northern Nigeria.
“This crass personilization of power by President Tinubu and Wike cannot happen in any of the South-East states, talkless of Northern Nigeria.
“Just because of one man’s insatiable thirst and habitual greed to cling unto power, Rivers state must boil and be set ablaze if his mission is not actualized, Eze wondered.
Though not stamping any seal of approval to the infamous state of emergency, suspension of democratic institutions, appointment of
LG administrators etc, Eze said, the unfortunate turn out of events in Rivers State, suggested that Wike was even out smarted by Tinubu and Akpabio.
“The truth is that Wike can assume to be a champion of Rivers politics, but when it comes to national politics, he knows he is not saleable.
“No matter the blackmail, eye service, pouring of invectives on perceived political foes of Tinubu, truthwise, Wike cannot dislodge AMAECHI, Akpabio, Umahi, Uzodimma, and Oshiomohle in APC.
“These men are waiting for him in and out of APC”, Eze said.
Meanwhile, Eze observed that “these acts of notoriety and illegality are evil tests to the patience of the good people of Rivers State; to gauge their reactions; whether as a conquered people or a people bold enough to fight in defense of their constitutional right and mandate, with bravery.
Chief Eze maintained that the activities of the sole administrator portend grave danger to the Nigerian Constitution and the authority of the courts.
“Unfortunately, his appointer sees himself as the alter ego, the alpha and omega, far above the laws of the land. And with that understanding, Ibok Ette Ibas acts with brazen disregard for constituted authorities, laws, and the feelings of the people.
Therefore, the APC chief has called on Nigerians to unite, lay off differences and tackle head-on the dangerous despot President Tinubu has turned himself into before he decimates the country.
