Adodo’s Appointment Signals Tinubu’s Commitment To Youth Inclusion – EUYI

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has received praise from the Empowerment for Unemployed Youth Initiative (EUYI) for his steadfast dedication to youth empowerment and cooperative partnership with civil society organisations (CSOs).

The group was pleased with Tinubu’s deliberate selection of civil rights advocates for important roles. EUYI praised the President’s appointment of Amb. Solomon Adodo as a Board Member of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), in a statement co-signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Danesi Momoh, and National Secretary, Comrade Igwe Ude-umanta.

“It is a great moment for us because on Thursday, May 8, 2025, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, approved the appointment of Comrade Solomon Adodo to the board of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC),” the statement said.

Adodo’s experience as a seasoned youth campaigner and grassroots mobiliser was highlighted by the group. Adodo was the first National Coordinator of the Empowerment for Unemployed Youth Initiative (EUYI), where he promoted youth employment and underemployment issues, before being elected President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).

The statement read further, “With this appointment, young people and rural communities will undoubtedly feel the impact of the NCDC. Adodo’s commitment to youth inclusion and advocacy for the underprivileged will now have a larger platform through the NCDC.”

The group also expressed gratitude to Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio for helping to make the appointment possible. Senator Akpabio was commended by the organisation for mentoring Adodo and believing in the potential of young Nigerians.

“Our pioneer National Coordinator, the President of NYCN, our friend, colleague, and comrade-in-arms,” the organisation added in its congratulations to Adodo. He deserves his appointment.

EUYI expressed disappointment over criticisms from the FCT Stakeholders Assembly, led by Aliyu Kwali, describing their remarks about Adodo’s appointment as “a mischievous campaign.”

As unfounded and polarising, the organisation rejected assertions that Adodo is from Benue rather than the FCT. “There is no single group to which the FCT belongs.” It is erroneous to exclude certain Nigerians based on these feelings,” the statement said, advising Kwali and his colleagues to use moderation and honour the appointment procedure.
