Justice John Tsoho, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, has redeployed a number of justices to different court divisions.
Dr. Catherine Christopher, the Federal High Court’s Director of Information, released a statement on Sunday informing the public of the changes.
According to the statement, Justice M. G. Umar, previously of the Enugu Judicial Division, has been reassigned to the Abuja Division.
He will now preside over all cases formerly handled by Justice Inyang Ekwo in Court No. 5.
“The general public is hereby notified that all cases pending before Court No. 5 in the Abuja Judicial Division will be attended to by the judge who has been moved to Abuja for that purpose.
“Consequently, there is no need for litigants and/or counsel to apply to the Hon. Chief Judge for re-assignment of cases that have been pending before the court,” the statement read.
Among the judicial transfers, Justice Tijjani Garba Ringim has been moved from the Gombe Division to the Yola Division. Justice M. T. Segun-Bello has been transferred from the Abakaliki Division to the Enugu Division. Justice Bala Khalifa-Mohammed Usman has been moved from Yola to the Awka Division. Meanwhile, Justice Amina Aliyu Mohammed, who previously served in Awka, has been reassigned to the Gombe Division.
The statement emphasised that the redeployments take immediate effect, and all affected judges are expected to deliver pending judgments at their current stations as quickly as possible.
Additionally, the judges currently residing in the Abakaliki and Katsina Judicial Divisions will take full responsibility for all existing and newly filed cases in their respective divisions until further notice
