Federal High Court Approves Vacation Court In Enugu For South East Zone

In a move aimed at enhancing access to justice during the court’s annual vacation, the Federal High Court of Nigeria has approved the establishment of a Vacation Court at its Enugu Judicial Division. This development is designed to handle urgent and sensitive legal matters within the Southeast Geo-Political Zone.

According to a press release on Saturday, July 26, 2025, signed by the Director of Information, Federal High Court of Nigeria, Dr. Catherine Oby Christopher, the approval follows a formal appeal by the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Oji River Branch, Sir K. Chukwudi Olemeforo, FICMIC, FICA, in a letter dated June 24, 2025.

Responding to the request, the Honourable Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Hon. Justice John T. Tsoho, KSS, OFR, FCIArb (UK), granted the approval in recognition of the merit of the appeal and the importance of sustaining access to justice in the region.

The Vacation Court will commence sitting on Monday, July 28, 2025, and continue until Tuesday, September 16, 2025. It will be presided over by Hon. Justice M. T. Segun-Bello.

The court will entertain urgent cases arising from the five Southeast states—Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo—ensuring that the administration of justice remains uninterrupted during the vacation period.

The Federal High Court reaffirmed its commitment to the timely delivery of justice and the protection of the rule of law across the country.
