Nigeria Police Extends Tinted Glass Permit Enforcement To October 2, 2025

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has approved a further extension of the grace period for enforcing the Tinted Glass Permit requirement for vehicles with tinted windows, moving the new enforcement date to October 2, 2025.

According to a press release on Monday, 11th August, 2025, signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the decision was prompted by a surge in applications through the official portal, reflecting increased public compliance. The extension, it said, would allow adequate time for thorough scrutiny of applications to ensure permits are issued only to eligible and qualified individuals in line with national security considerations.

The Police also noted that the move would enable continued fine-tuning of digital and physical verification processes to safeguard the integrity of the system and prevent abuse. Citizens were reminded that the sole authorized application platform remains https://possap.gov.ng and urged to ignore unofficial channels.

The public is encouraged to report any extortion, hidden charges, or unauthorized processing to the Police via the hotline 08147818871.

The Force, while appreciating Nigerians for their cooperation, reiterated its commitment to balancing public convenience with strong security measures.
