Final Journey Begins for Former PSC Chairman, Dr. Solomon Arase

The final journey of the immediate past Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC) and retired Inspector General of Police, Dr. Solomon Arase, CFR, NPM, fdc, commenced on Wednesday with a solemn day of tributes at the Police Resource Centre, Jabi, Abuja.

According to a press release signed by the PSC Head, Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, over 500 mourners signed the condolence register at the PSC headquarters, reflecting the outpouring of grief and respect for the late police reformer.

As part of the tributes, the Commission announced that its Chairman’s Conference Hall, located on the sixth floor of its corporate headquarters, will henceforth be known as the *Solomon Arase Hall* in his honour.

In his remarks, PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd.), described Arase as *“a police officer of repute, a scholar, a reformer, and a gentleman of rare courage and intellect.”* Argungu, who was represented by the Director of Human Resource Management, Aminu Malumfashi, noted that the Commission will be fully represented at the final rites in Edo State.

The funeral programme continues with a requiem mass on Friday, September 26, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Maitama, Abuja. A lying-in-state will follow on Saturday at his residence in Maitama before the body is airlifted to Benin City, Edo State.

The late former PSC Chairman will be laid to rest at his Benin residence on Friday, October 3, 2025.
