The Nigeria Police Force has announced the arrest of twelve suspects in connection with the armed robbery incident that occurred on September 29, 2025, at Unique Apartments, Katampe Extension, Mabushi, Abuja, where two persons, a journalist with ARISE News, Ms. Somtochukwu Christella Maduagwu, and a security guard, Mr. Barnabas Danlami, tragically lost their lives.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, made the disclosure during a press briefing held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the FCT Police Command Headquarters, Garki, Abuja.
According to Hundeyin, operatives of the FCT Police Command launched a coordinated, intelligence-driven operation immediately after the incident. Through diligent investigation and extensive digital intelligence analysis, the following twelve suspects were apprehended:
1. Shamsudeen Hassan
2. Hassan Isah, 22
3. Abubakar AlKamu a.k.a. Abba, 27
4. Sani Sirajo a.k.a. Dan Borume, 20
5. Mashkur Jamilu a.k.a. Abba, 28
6. Suleiman Badamasi a.k.a. Dan-Sule, 21
7. Abdulsalam Saleh a.k.a. Na-Durudu
8. Zaharadeen Muhammad a.k.a. Gwaska, 23
9. Musa Adamu a.k.a. Musa Hassan, 30
10. Sumayya Mohammed a.k.a. Baby, 27
11. Isah Abdulrahman a.k.a. Abbati, 25
12. Musa Umar a.k.a. Small, 31
Recovered exhibits include one locally fabricated AK-47 rifle, one locally made pistol, one pump-action gun, 36 live rounds of 9mm ammunition, two live cartridges, four mobile phones, two sharp knives, one cutlass, and two flashlights.
Further investigation revealed that the fatal shot which killed the security guard, Mr. Danlami, was fired by one of the suspects, Shamsudeen Hassan, who confessed to shooting the guard during an attempt to prevent their entry into the apartment complex. The suspects also disclosed that their weapons were supplied by an as-yet unidentified source from Niger Republic and that they were involved in other robbery operations within Katampe I, Apo, Zuba, and other parts of the FCT.
The Nigeria Police Force extended its condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the deceased victims and assured that justice will be served. Hundeyin commended the professionalism, courage, and dedication of the FCT Command operatives whose efforts led to the arrests and recovery of exhibits.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and to continue providing credible information to assist the Police in curbing criminal activities.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains steadfast in ensuring that all individuals connected to this heinous crime are brought to justice,” Hundeyin stated, assuring that investigations are ongoing and further updates will be provided as new facts emerge.
