The Integrity Youth Alliance has strongly refuted a recent report by Sahara Reporters alleging that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, removed the Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), CP Ajao Saka Adewale, due to public pressure from the former AAC Presidential Candidate, Omoyele Sowore.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the Integrity Youth Alliance National Coordinator, Kelvin Adegbenga, the group described the report as “false, misleading, and mischievous,” stressing that CP Adewale has demonstrated professionalism and efficiency in handling security matters within the FCT, including the recent Katampe robbery case.
According to the Alliance, the September 29, 2025, robbery incident was thoroughly investigated under CP Adewale’s supervision, leading to the swift arrest of all suspects involved, an outcome that drew commendation from residents and security stakeholders across Abuja.
The group further clarified that the posting and redeployment of senior police officers are routine administrative exercises aimed at enhancing operational effectiveness in the Force. It noted that the current postings remain provisional, pending confirmation by the Police Service Commission (PSC), as stipulated in standard police procedures.
“It is therefore misleading for anyone, including Mr Omoyele Sowore, to attribute a routine administrative redeployment to public agitation or media activism,” the statement read.
“We advise Mr Sowore to desist from claiming credit for actions he neither initiated nor influenced, as such conduct only erodes his public credibility.”
The Integrity Youth Alliance also condemned the unauthourized publication of internal police documents in the media, describing it as a breach of official secrecy and a violation of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
The group urged security agencies to investigate the source of such leaks and prosecute those responsible.
Reaffirming its confidence in the leadership of IGP Egbetokun, the Alliance commended the Nigeria Police Force for maintaining professionalism, accountability, and citizen-focused policing in line with its reform agenda.
