The Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has met with Muslim and Christian religious leaders, traditional rulers, and other critical stakeholders to solicit their cooperation in the fight against crime during the Yuletide season and beyond.
According to a press release on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, signed by the Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, the meeting, held on Tuesday at the Conference Hall of the Nasarawa State Police Command Headquarters along Shendam Road, Lafia, brought together clerics, village and ward heads, as well as community leaders from across the state.
Addressing participants, CP Mohammed expressed appreciation to religious and traditional rulers for their sustained support to the police in maintaining peace and security in Nasarawa State. He noted that the Yuletide period often comes with unique security challenges and emphasised the need for continuous collaboration to ensure a hitch-free festive season.

The Commissioner assured stakeholders that adequate security measures have been put in place, particularly around churches and mosques, to safeguard worshippers during the celebrations. He urged religious leaders to preach security consciousness to their congregations, encourage vigilance, and ensure proper screening of worshippers before entry into worship centres. He also advised them to promptly contact the nearest police formation in the event of any distress or suspicious activity.
Participants at the meeting pledged their support for the police, commended the Commissioner for engaging directly with community leaders, and urged him to sustain the initiative as a means of strengthening community policing and trust.
The engagement forms part of the Command’s proactive measures to enhance public safety during the festive period.
