The Federal government has been tasked to adequately equip Nigerian youths to address current challenges facing the country’s economy.
The government is also urged to open access to build entrepreneurial space ,where youths can incubate their ideas.
A Start-up expert, Mr. Taiwo Adepoju gave the challenge while briefing journalists ahead of a Start UP summit aimed at building a supportive system for business success, especially among young people.
He further called on the government to be people focused rather than concentrating on resources saying when people are considered as the capital it will reflect on the nation’s economy.
“Government must be innovative in it’s approach to addressing unemployment in Nigeria, there is need for consistent assessment and review of initiatives to address failure rates”
Speaking on the roles of the Academia, Adepoju stated that Education must be tailored to provide practical solutions to help businesses survive in the economy.
According to him, “academia plays critical role in economy development, getting people schooled in proper entrepreneurship education is key”
“The idea behind the Summit is to help young businesses grow by exposing them to vital information and resources necessary for their survival”
The target for the summit according to him are SMEs, Innovation driven enterprises and social enterprises.
The focus of the Start-UP summit is Building dynamic Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in Nigeria.
