His Excellency Kashim Shettima, Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has once again proven himself a worthy son of the North. In the wake of the passing of our beloved former President, His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Shettima demonstrated unwavering loyalty, humility, and leadership in fulfilling the solemn responsibilities entrusted to him by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (PABAT).
In a moment of national mourning, Vice President Shettima stood firm and dignified, representing both the presidency and the Nigerian people with empathy and honor. He remained with the family of the late President for several days, mourning alongside them and offering both moral and physical support.
In a rare and touching display of humility and solidarity, the Vice President joined mourners in physically helping to cover the grave of President Buhari—personally lifting a shovel to place sand where needed. This powerful gesture deeply moved many and reflected the depth of his respect for the deceased and the values he stood for.
Kashim Shettima’s conduct during this period has shown that not only is Buhari gone, but his legacy finds a continuation in loyal and capable hands. In him, many see the rebirth of Buhari’s values, integrity, and simplicity—especially in the North.
This moment presents a strategic opportunity for President Tinubu and the APC leadership to harness the goodwill and unity generated during this time of mourning. Vice President Shettima has undoubtedly won the hearts of many, and the synergy between him and the President can only strengthen the current administration’s ability to deliver on the Renewed Hope Agenda.
At a time when some individuals attempt to sow discord between the President and his loyal Vice President, it is imperative to recognize that such actors bring little political value from their constituencies. We must not allow distractions or sycophancy to undermine the unity at the top of our leadership.
Since the funeral of former President Buhari, Vice President Shettima has consistently stood out in every duty assigned to him by Mr. President—carrying them out with joy, humility, and dedication.
I therefore call upon President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our party leaders, and stakeholders across the country to remain united and committed to delivering on the promises made to the Nigerian people. As we approach the APC primary elections and the general elections shortly after, a united front is non-negotiable. Unity of purpose is essential to the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
May President Bola Ahmed Tinubu continue to lead with wisdom.
May Vice President Kashim Shettima continue to serve with loyalty.
May Nigeria continue to grow in peace and prosperity.
