Ademola Adelugbin Apomu Didn’t Die In IRT Facilities; Youth Alliance Counters Sahara Reporters

…… Says Ademola Adelugbin Apomu suffered from a kidney problem.

The South West Youth Alliance has countered a publication aimed at maligning the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun and the Intelligence Response Team (IRT).

According to a press release on Tuesday, 13th May, 2025, in Abuja, signed by the National Coordinator of the SWYA, Funke Ajanlekoko, the suspect, Ademola Adelugbin Apomu, did not die in police custody.

“According to information at our disposal, Apomu died in the hospital after being in and out of the hospital. He was taken to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with suffering from a kidney problem, Ajanlekoko said.

She further said, “They were detained for terrorism, unlawful possession of firearms, and murder, which he also confessed to. They’ve been charged, and the case has been assigned to the Federal High Court 6, and an arraignment date is given as 10/7/2025.

“We further state that they were detained on a valid court order, as court documents seen by our association against false publication by Sahara Reporters that says they were arrested “by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, acting on the instructions of former Osun State Governor and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, who is also a nephew of President Bola Tinubu.

“The only reason we are responding to such sensational journalism is to set the record straight and protect the public from false news from a medium that claims to stand for and by the truth, the statement concluded.
