AIG Benneth Igweh Receives Nation Builder Award In The Security Sector

….. Vows to continue fighting criminal elements in the FCT, Niger State and environs

The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, *AIG Benneth Igweh,* psc, mni, has been honoured with the Nation Builder Award in the Security Sector by the National Council for Civil Society Organisations and Vision-One Leadership Development Initiative.

According to a press release on Friday, 7th February 2025, signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, SP. M.B Abdulkadir, the award was presented by the Director General, Rt. Comrade Emmanuel Johnny, in recognition of AIG Igweh’s significant contributions to enhancing security and his dedicated service to the nation.

The DG emphasised that AIG Igweh’s leadership has been instrumental in addressing security challenges, particularly during his tenure as the 31st Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). His efforts have been acknowledged by various organisations, including an award conferred by the FCT Minister, *Barr. Nyesom Wike,* for his role in improving security in the Capital Territory.

The DG added that the Nation Builder Award underscores AIG Igweh’s commitment to public service and his impactful contributions to national security. His recognition by prominent civil society organisations highlights the positive influence of his leadership within the security sector.

In response, the AIG appreciated the organisation for finding him worthy of this award, as this award makes it the 168th Award he has received for hard work and dedication. He dedicated the award to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, who always encouraged and supported him and every police officer to do good work for the country at large.

“To whom much is given, much is expected; as such, one of the things we have done as a zone to continue securing the FCT, Niger State, and environs is that we have moved the command from the administrative structure it used to be to the operational structure because we have been combing the axis of the FCT, Niger, Kaduna, and Nasarawa.

“We discovered that 60% of the FCT boundary is Niger State; Abaji, Kwali, Gwagwalada, Zuba, and Bwari are all bounded by Niger State. Since Niger State is under my supervision, we now go on operations to sanitise the places that are prone to criminality, because if Niger is safe, FCT is safe.

“We will continue to fight criminal elements in our jurisdiction and make sure crime is brought to its barest minimum.”

“He, however, calls on the law-abiding citizens of the FCT, Niger and environs to always collaborate with the police by giving relevant information and reporting suspicious activities to the Police.
