Alliance Blast Yoruba Union; Tagged Them “Ìgbìnmó Kóbájé Ilé-Yorúbá”

The Integrity Youth Alliance has blasted the so-called Yoruba Union, known as Ìgbìnmó Májékóbájé Ilé-Yorúbá, on their careless, reckless, and biased statement on the Nigeria Police, especially on the person of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi.

In a statement on Tuesday in Abuja, the Board Chairman of the Alliance, Comrade Adewole Kehinde, said that it is unfortunate the so-called Union could say that IGP Egbetokun is exploiting his position to harass and intimidate Yoruba citizens while neglecting critical security issues.

“First of all, no Nigerian, irrespective of tribe, is above the law. The fact that the Inspector General of Police is a Yoruba man should not warrant any Yoruba persons to commit an offence and expect the Nigeria police to look away from such offences, Adewole said.

“To enlighten the ignorance of the so-called union, Aare Afe Babalola is the one that petitioned the Nigeria police over Dele Farotimi’s defamation.

“In a petition dated November 19 and addressed to Adeniran Akinwale, Ekiti police commissioner, Babalola narrated how his law firm got hold of the book containing the “defamatory” remarks.

“Also, people around the world watched Channel TV, wherein Dele Farotimi was interviewed concerning the said book, where he made several defamatory statements against Aare Afe Babalola, his law firm Afe Babalola & Co. (Emmanuel Chambers), Olu Daramola SAN, and Ola Faro Esq.

“Therefore, the Ekiti State Police Commissioner acted based on a petition by Aare Afe Babalola by arresting Dele Farotimi and charging him to court. The IGP has nothing to do with the case of Dele Farotimi, as believed by the self-acclaimed “Ìgbìnmó Májékóbájé Ilé-Yorubá.”.

“Kemi Badenoch’s remarks against the Nigeria Police are dangerous rhetoric from a pompous and uninformed foreign leader who does not know our nation, doesn’t know where she fits in, and is determined to start a fire that she can’t control and that could eventually engulf her.

“An August 2024 Guardian article reported that the Metropolitan Police (Met) failed or was inadequate in five key areas, including preventing crime, responding to the public, and protecting vulnerable people. The Met was also less likely to catch criminals for regular crimes than other forces; Kemi Badenoch should rather address this than wash her dirty linen in public.

In the case of Abiodun Olumide Thomas, it is unfortunate that self-acclaimed “Ìgbìnmó Májékóbájé Ilé-Yorúbá” ignored the video (https://www.facebook.com/share/v/nmsLHrq6vip9N2np/) where Abiodun Olumide Thomas lost her “Omoluabi” to insult those who are old enough to be her father.

“It is only a bastard daughter that insults her elders in public and expects such elders to keep quiet. We strongly support the prosecution of Abiodun Olumide Thomas according to the law of cyberbullying, and we are following the case to ensure that the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act 2015 of Nigeria becomes effective immediately.

“It is unfortunate that the so-called “Ìgbìnmó Májékóbájé Ilé-Yorúbá” did not exercise patience while seeking a durable solution in difficult situations and hastily accept an ill-conceived/prepared solution, Adewole said.

“We called on the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, and spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, to ignore those “Ìgbìnmó Kóbájé Ilé-Yorúbá” and concentrate on creating an environment where the Police Force works hand-in-hand with communities, fostering mutual respect and collaboration, to propel the Police to attain primacy in the internal security structure of Nigeria.
