The Integrity Youth Alliance, an organisation that has been monitoring the development trends in the Nigeria Police Force for over 15 years, has congratulated the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun on the clarification of his tenure in office.
The group, in a statement on Tuesday issued by its publicity secretary, Danjuma Lamido, charged IGP Egbetokun to take an urgent look into the welfare and condition of service of officers and men of the force.
“Urgent attention is also required to the problems of widespread corruption, indiscipline, and a lack of professionalism in the force, which have undermined public faith in the ability of officers and men of the force to defend Nigerians’ lives and property.
“Under IGP Egbetokun, we see a police force that is professionally competent, service-driven, rule-of-law compliant, and people-friendly—a police force that will effectively support the agenda of the government for economic recovery and growth, as well as the social and political development of our dear country, Nigeria, Lamido said.
Recall that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved the extension of the tenure of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, according to sources at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
