Niger State Government has made a cash and a vehicle donation as a morale boost to a voluntary security organization Anti Drugs Consumption and Crime Control, Code named ADC.
Presenting the gift to the organization, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello who was represented by his Chief of Staff Ibrahim Balarabe explained that the donation is sequel to the role played by the ADC to complement the efforts of the conventional security agencies towards ensuring peace in the State particularly in the wake of protest that engulfed most States recently.
The Governor said the Organization’s commitment to a peaceful State is not in doubt haven been profiled it by the State government and have closely monitored it activities.
He assured that the State will continue to partner with the ADC while enjoining them to always work within the confines of the law which is to fish out criminals and hand them over to Police for prosecution stressing that they should not engage in any form of brutality and rancour.
In his remarks, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters Umar Kolo also appreciated the efforts of the ADC in complementing the conventional security agencies towards ensuring a peaceful State.
Responding, the Commander ADC, Abdulmumini Amil explained that the organization is a group of patriotic citizens of the State with the passion to ride off the State of criminal element in collaboration with the Nigerian Police Force.
Amil said members of the ADC are not jobless individual but have seen the organization as a platform to carryout their moral duties to the State adding that aside the arrest of bad eggs in the State, they also offer guidance and Counseling sessions to re-form Youths in which some are registered in schools while some are trained on some skills such as vulcanizing, carpentry among others.
He appreciated the Governor for the kind gesture and promised not to disappoint while soliciting more support.
The Anti Drugs Consumption and Crime Control is a voluntary organization, established in 2003 with the aimed of complementing Police and State Government efforts in having a peaceful State.
It so far has a membership strength of about one thousand.
