…Advocates engagement of vibrant, experienced retired servicemen.

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has urged the Federal Government to up its game in improving the welfare of service men as well as the families left behind by the nation’s fallen heroes.

He made the call in Lokoja on Friday while addressing the press briefly after the 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration and the laying of wreaths in memorial of those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.

The governor similarly recommended that retired military men who are still vibrant and agile could be re-engaged in active capacities to utilize their experiences and ideas in tackling challenges of insecurities in the country.

Governor Bello appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari and the service chiefs for their continued efforts in securing the nation and sustaining both the internal and external sovereignty of the country.

He however urged politicians and citizens to exercise patience and continue to show understanding with the president and the security chiefs whom he said, were trying their best and have made tangible progress in addressing the precarious situation bedeviling the nation before now.

The governor stated that considering the previous scenarios of daily bomb blasts in the North East region including Abuja, the seat of power, there was need to give credit to the president and the service chiefs for their strides in curtailing the security challenges facing the country.

Governor Bello used the opportunity to again appreciate Kogi citizens whom he said have continually shown their supports, cooperation and understanding to his government, adding that the security being enjoyed as a state was duly attributed to their continued support.

According to him, Kogi state still remains one of the safest and most peaceful states in the country today.

He added that last year, the state recorded the highest foreign direct investment in the country surpassing Lagos and some other economic hub centers, noting that his administration would continue to do its best to ensure that the state remains secured so as to create room for more investments, jobs and infrastructural developments.

Governor Bello warned the remnants criminal minded elements hibernating in any part of the state to flee as his administration was set to flush them out.

He said his administration would be tougher with criminals in the state this 2020 as the state had come up with modern technology that would assist in fishing them out from wherever they are hiding.
