It was the Minister’s idea at the heat of the pandemic to propose that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) which is the highest decision-making body in the country conduct its meetings virtually using the Galaxy Backbone digital Infrastructure platform.

The statement read, “This proposal by the Minister which was approved by his Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR), has recorded a huge success as the FEC has conducted successfully over 22 meetings virtually leveraging the GBB Unified Communications platform.

“Also, over this period a lot of young people have been trained with digital skills that is transforming how they work and live and has encouraged them to create new innovation that is transforming the nation and is leading to the attraction of global investors into the country.

“The Minister has continued to champion the need for digital skills which will help in transforming the nation’s digital Economy.

“Prof. Abubakar as MD/CEO of GBB,, an agency under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Communications & Digital Economy has committed that GBB will continue to support the efforts of the Minister in ensuring that Nigeria and indeed the whole of the African Telecommunications Union is fast transformed into a leading globally recognized Digital Economy.

“GBB will continue to innovate and stay focused in its role as the Digital & Network Communications platform implementing the vision of Dr. Pantami to build a formidable digital Economy in Nigeria.

“Once again Galaxy Backbone congratulates and celebrates with the Federal Ministry Of Communications and Digital Economy under the leadership of Dr. Isa Ali Pantami, the leadership of the African Telecommunications Union and all member states on this special 2020 ATU DAY and look forward to future collaborations between public and private organisations within the ATU, the statement concluded.
