Road users have been warned to avoid overspeeding and reckless driving on the highways.
According to a tweet on its official X Handle, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said that driving normally on the highway will reduce unnecessary accidents that claim innocent lives.
Adejobi said, “Third Mainland Bridge: we should avoid overspeeding and reckless driving on our highways. We recorded similar incidences in some parts of the country yesterday and today.
“In fact, fatal road crashes are common on our highways, and we need to curb the trend. Observing traffic rules and regulations is crucial to saving our lives and the lives of many others. May the souls of the deceased rest in peace, he added.
Recall that a commercial bus with 22 passengers had a brake failure while travelling at high speed and, in the process, ran into the barrier on the Third Mainland Bridge, which led to two passengers plunging into the lagoon.
