A team of detectives attached to ‘C’ Division Headquarters of Bauchi Police Command in collaboration with a quasi-security outfit on visibility policing patrol on 23rd January 2024 have arrested the following suspects: Musbahu Umar, 23yrs of Tirwun area Bauchi, Salim Hamisu, aged 30yrs, Sadiq Nura AKA Abba, aged 22yrs, Abubakar Aliyu, aged 22yrs and Mohammed Mohammed AKA Abba, aged 20yrs all residents of Unguwan Shongel and Tirwun areas respectively.
In a statement on Saturday 27th, January 2024 signed by the Bauchi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, said that during interrogation, the suspects confessed to the offence.
“Investigation revealed that the suspect was from Kano State. He rented two (2) houses at Shehu Wunti Housing Quarters after coming to Bauchi through one Jamilu Isah ‘m’ of ‘Yankaba Kano State to connive with other members of the gang and terrorize Bauchi communities, particularly Shehu Wunti Housing Quarters.
“The suspects armed with dangerous weapons criminally conspired among themselves and trespassed into a house belonging to one Dr Kabiru Umar ‘m’ of Shehu Wunti Quarters Bauchi, and attempted to rob him of his car, a Peugeot dark blue in colour and other valuable items. But they were chased and arrested.
The following items were recovered from them; Two empty white leaders of new matchets, One Hunda Car ignition key, and Two Qlink motorcycle ignition keys.
“Further investigation is ongoing to trace and arrest the remaining gang members, after which the defendants will be profiled and charged to court for the established offences, SP Ahmed Wakil said.
