The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), CP Ajao S. Adewale, has called for stronger synergy and cooperation between residents of Nyanya and the Nigeria Police Force in ensuring safety and security within the area.

CP Ajao made this call during a courtesy visit to the Nyanya Divisional Police Station, where he held an interactive session with youths, community leaders, and members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC).

In his remarks, the Commissioner emphasised that security should not be left to the government alone, urging residents to take an active role in safeguarding their environment. He encouraged the people to know their neighbours and understand what they do for a living as part of community vigilance.

He further advised the youths to resist being used as political thugs, stressing that their energy and talents should instead be channelled toward positive community development.

The interactive session provided an opportunity for members of the community to voice their concerns and suggestions on how to strengthen collaboration with the police. CP Ajao also urged residents to always have the contact numbers of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), fire service, and other emergency responders for quick intervention in times of need.

While commending the efforts of the local vigilante group for complementing police operations, the Commissioner also applauded the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Nyanya for their cooperation and assistance in the arrest of suspected criminals.

Earlier during the visit, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Nyanya Division, CSP Alhassan Majia, warmly received the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ajao S. Adewale, and briefed him on the achievements recorded by the division in crime prevention and community policing.

The DPO also highlighted some of the challenges facing the division, particularly in the areas of manpower and logistics, and appealed for the Commissioner’s support to further enhance the operational efficiency of the command in ensuring the safety of lives and property within the Nyanya axis.

Dignitaries present at the meeting included the Speaker of the AMAC Legislative Council, the Chairman and members of the PCRC, traditional council leaders from Nyanya, heads of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), as well as youth leaders from the community.

In a statement issued by the Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, the PSC Chairman expressed satisfaction that the Commission, constitutionally empowered to recruit personnel into the Nigeria Police Force, played a vital role in admitting the new officers into the policing profession.

Argungu reminded the recruits that the Commission will continue to monitor their conduct and performance throughout their service, urging them to embrace their duties with dedication and integrity.

…… Gov Diri Receives Africa In Diaspora Leader On Maiden Nigeria Visit

Bayelsa State has procured two aircraft to commence commercial flight operations at the state’s airport.

Governor Douye Diri, who stated this on Monday during the courtesy visit of the Prime Minister of the State of Africa in Diaspora, Dr Tin Louise-George, to Government House, Yenagoa, said the planes would soon arrive and would operate the Yenagoa, Lagos and Abuja routes.

According to a press release on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, signed by the Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Alabrah, Governor Diri said his administration was determined to make the Bayelsa International Airport more commercially effective for flight operations.

While welcoming Dr. Louise-George on his maiden visit to Nigeria and Bayelsa, he described the State of Africa in Diaspora as akin to Doctors Without Borders.

He stated that the state government was ready to partner in the areas of airport expansion and smart city development.

He said: “I heartily welcome you and your team to Bayelsa. We are pleased to note that you are visiting Nigeria for the first time.

“Let me acknowledge that I had a fruitful virtual meeting with you and your team when I was recently in London, which was facilitated by my Technical Adviser, Prof. Oweikumo Eradiri.

“As an African government without borders, we know you have a lot for us. My Technical Adviser had earlier presented the plans we have for developing our state. The airport is one of them, which certainly needs expansion.

”We are working on the airport in the area of ensuring there are regular, daily flights. We had an arrangement with a private airline, which we were supporting for flights to and fro Lagos and Abuja. But it got to a point where that arrangement almost collapsed, and the airport became virtually non-functional.

“Now we have taken the bull by the horns, and as we speak, we are expecting two aircraft, which the government has already procured. These aircraft would operate daily flights to Lagos and Abuja. So wherever you have an airport, constant electricity and water, it is as good as any place you stay to eke out a living.

“Talking about smart cities, we are equally developing a new city called the New Yenagoa City. It is a place my team will take you to see what we are doing. That is the kind of place a smart city will be very okay for our people.”

Earlier, the Prime Minister of the State of Africa in Diaspora, Dr Tin Louise-George, proposed development support and funding for selected projects in the state through a cooperation agreement.

He explained that in 2003, Heads of State of the African Union unanimously adopted a resolution establishing the African Diaspora as the sixth region of Africa.

The Prime Minister said there were 350 million people of African descent living outside of Africa and that he had the mandate of the Africa Union to represent them.

He stated that besides the government, which he leads, a parliament and a royal chamber, there were programmes of action for development, with the objective to reinforce Africa through the diaspora and the diaspora through Africa.

He said the visit to Bayelsa was to explore areas of collaboration in aviation, provide support for a smart city, education and medical facilities among other sectors.

“Our objective is to reinforce Africa through the diaspora and the diaspora through Africa. And we are very happy to have this opportunity to come to Bayelsa State and Nigeria. What we want to do is propose support, development and funding.

“This morning, I saw the airport and I know you want to extend it. We are ready to provide the resources to develop this airport, a smart city somewhere, education and a medical complex. We will be happy to contribute.”

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has extended heartfelt felicitations to Dr Ayo Ogunsan on the occasion of his birthday, describing him as a steadfast pillar of support to the Command and a selfless contributor to humanity.

In a congratulatory message, CP Jimoh commended Dr Ogunsan for his unwavering assistance and numerous contributions, which he said have greatly enhanced policing operations in Lagos State. He noted that Dr Ogunsan’s consistent support has helped improve the Command’s performance and made the task of maintaining security in the state more effective.

…. 12 Suspected Cultists Arrested in Jesse

The Delta State Police Command has recorded significant breakthroughs in its ongoing operations against violent crimes across the state, with the death of two suspected kidnappers following a gun duel and the arrest of 12 suspected cultists in Jesse.

In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Edafe Bright, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, directed operatives of the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) to intensify intelligence-led operations after a series of reported kidnapping and armed robbery incidents around the Upper Agbarho axis of Ughelli and its environs.

Acting on credible intelligence, the team led by ASP Julius Robinson extended its investigation to Rivers and Imo States, where two suspects, Abubakar Musa (28) of Ajase town, Kwara State, and Yusuf Sale (25) of Rimin-Zayam town, Bauchi State, were arrested in Port Harcourt and Owerri on October 2 and 4, 2025, respectively.

During interrogation, the suspects led operatives to a bush between Upper Agbarho and Oviri-Ogor communities in Ughelli North LGA, where the police recovered one AK-47 rifle with two magazines and 43 rounds of live ammunition, one pump-action gun, and a locally made pistol.

However, while exiting the area, the operatives came under heavy gunfire from other members of the gang who attempted to rescue their arrested accomplices. A fierce exchange ensued, resulting in gunshot injuries to both the suspects in custody and some of their collaborators. Two police operatives also sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment. The injured suspects were taken to the hospital but were confirmed dead while receiving medical attention.

Meanwhile, in a separate operation targeting cult-related violence, operatives of the State Anti-Cult Unit (SACU), acting on intelligence on October 5, 2025, raided a hideout along Sylvester Street, Jesse Town, Ethiope West LGA. The location was allegedly being used as an assembly point for cultists before attacks on rival groups.

During the raid, 12 suspects, including Mudiaga Obey (20), were arrested, and a Beretta pistol with one live round of ammunition was recovered.

SP Edafe Bright assured that the Command remains resolute in its mission to rid Delta State of criminal elements and restore peace across all communities, adding that investigations are ongoing to apprehend fleeing members of the kidnap gang and other accomplices.

The Police Service Commission has sent a strong delegation to Kano to supervise the screening and processes for the 2025 Police Academy (POLAC) admission, which begins in Wudil, Kano, today, Monday, October 6th 2025.

Justice Paul Adamu Galumje, retired Justice of the Supreme Court, who is representing the Judiciary in the Commission and DIG Taiwo Lakanu, fdc, who is representing the Police and Chairman of the PSC Standing Committee on Police Matter,s are leading the strong delegation.

According to a press release on Monday, October 6th 2025, signed by the Head, Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, the Commission, a few days ago, unveiled a Policy on whistleblowing on recruitment processes and vowed to ensure that offenders are brought to book.

The Commission has warned that it will use the Polac admission processes to test run this Policy and will deal with any person or persons, no matter how highly placed, who falls victim to the dictates of the Policy.

Chairman of the Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd) mni, appeals to all parties participating in the ongoing Polac admission screening to play by the rules to avoid facing the wrath of the Commission.

The PSC Chairman said the Commission is poised to sanitise Police recruitment in the country, which includes admission into Polac, so that the Police will be proud of the products that will be sent to them.

He assured that the Commission will continue to carry along all relevant stakeholders in the search for a clean and credible recruitment process.

DIG Argungu advised state governments to show more interest in the ongoing Polac admission processes to protect their quota. He noted that the Commission will continue to stand for inclusivity in its management of Police personnel and called for understanding as it rejigs the system for better results.

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 7 Headquarters, AIG Victor Olaiya, psc(+), has commended the Niger State Police Command for its unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state.

AIG Olaiya gave the commendation during his familiarisation visit to the Command, where he praised the Commissioner of Police and his officers for their dedication and professionalism, which he said have contributed immensely to the state’s relative tranquillity.

According to a press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, ASP Halima Mohammed, he also lauded the Niger State Government for its continuous support to the Nigeria Police Force, particularly in enhancing the operational effectiveness of the Command.

While addressing officers, AIG Olaiya emphasised the importance of strict enforcement of laws regulating the use of tinted vehicle permits. He, however, cautioned that such enforcement must not be used as an avenue for extortion or intimidation of citizens.

The Enugu State Police Command has recorded fresh operational successes in its sustained efforts to combat armed robbery and related crimes across the state. The latest breakthroughs include the arrest of two suspects, the recovery of firearms, and a motorcycle in two separate operations.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, on Monday, October 6, 2025, operatives attached to Nenwe and Owelle-Court Divisions, in collaboration with members of the Neighbourhood Watch and Forest Guards, arrested Okonkwo Chukwuebuka (27) for armed robbery, while his accomplice escaped.

Preliminary investigations revealed that on **September 30, 2025**, the suspect and his fleeing partner boarded a commercial motorcycle in Nenwe community, Aninri Local Government Area, and later robbed the rider at gunpoint. Security operatives intercepted them during their escape attempt, leading to the recovery of one cut-to-size gun and the snatched motorcycle.

In a separate operation, operatives of the Command’s Octopus Squad arrested another suspect, Ibe Christian (27), on September 28, 2025, at about 10:00 a.m., following actionable intelligence. A locally fabricated Beretta-like pistol and a dagger were recovered from him. Discreet investigations into both cases are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigations.

The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, psc, commended the professionalism and teamwork displayed by the operatives and security stakeholders involved in the operations.
