A local boat conveying locals capsized in Njuwa Lake across Njuwa community in Yola South Local Government Area.
The NEMA Yola Operations Office received the report about the boat accident that occurred along the River Benue near Njuwa community in Yola South, Adamawa State on Friday, September 8, 2023.
Initial investigations reveal that the boat was carrying 23 passengers. Seven individuals have been successfully rescued with the assistance of local divers, sadly one person has been reported as deceased, and at the time of this report, fifteen people are still unaccounted for.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in collaboration with Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA) and various other stakeholders, is actively coordinating search and rescue operations to locate the missing passengers.
