Book Presentation Highlights “Obi: The Political Change Agent” In Abuja

On June 10, 2025, at the NAF Conference Centre in Kado, Abuja, a significant literary event took place with the presentation of the book “Obi: The Political Change Agent,” authored by Ike Abonyi.

The event was presided over by Senator Nenadi Usman, the Acting National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), who expressed deep respect and a sense of patriotic duty in welcoming the attendees.

Senator Usman highlighted that the book not only chronicles Peter Obi’s political journey but also represents a broader awakening of Nigeria’s democratic consciousness. She characterised Obi as a crucial voice for change in a generation characterised by political frustrations. The book emphasises themes such as accountability, simplicity, principle, and prudence amidst systemic challenges.

The book, spanning 250 pages, is divided into 26 chapters that navigate Nigeria’s political landscape. It covers the democratic revival that began in 1999 and delves into the tumultuous events of the 2023 general elections. Additionally, it examines the rise of the Obidient Movement, which represents a new wave of youth engagement in politics and civic activism.

In her remarks, Senator Usman praised the author for his insightful and unflinching portrayal of various political dynamics, including electoral intrigue and the struggle for ideological clarity. She encouraged attendees to view the book as a catalyst for renewed national dialogue about leadership, the role of political parties, and the importance of citizen involvement in fostering meaningful change.

As the event came to an end, participants were encouraged to draw inspiration not only from Peter Obi’s journey but also from the collective movement advocating for a revitalised Nigeria—one that champions leadership rooted in character, competence, and conscience.

The gathering reinforced a commitment to building a stronger, more accountable nation, highlighting that true patriotism requires active involvement from all citizens.
