Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kaduna State chapter has called on all Christians in Kaduna state to vote for the PDP in the gubernatorial election next Saturday.
In a communiqué signed by CAN Kaduna State chapter chairman, Reverend Joseph Hayab, he said that the association has reached an agreement with the PDP’s gubernatorial candidate, Isa Ashiru, on the positions he will reserve for Christians in exchange for Christian votes and support presently in addition to the governor, the deputy governor, 80% of the commissioners SSG, Head of Service, Chief of Staff, the two ministers from Kaduna state are all Muslims.
The communiqué read partially, “That the PDPs gubernatorial candidate also promised to discontinue the plans by the all-Moslems government in Kaduna state to relocate the Kafanchan campus of the Kaduna State University, which houses the most lucrative courses in the university such as architecture, quantity surveying, etc to Rigachikun, under the guise of a “permanent site” of the university. Already the APC’s gubernatorial candidate is building a state of the art Faculty of engineering there, which is worth N3 billion
“That the Moslem-Christian ticket is the only shortcut to a Christian governor as it happened with late Gov Yakowa. Whom we all agree, has helped in bringing projects to Christian-dominated areas and appointments to Christians in many government establishments
“It has been observed that aside from being a son to a prominent Islamic cleric in Zara, the APC gubernatorial candidate is more likely to promote Islam than the current governor Because he is constantly seen around Islam clerics and making huge donations to the propagation of Islam in Kaduna state. He also facilitated the disbursement of the CBN’s non-interest loans, 80% of the beneficiaries in Kaduna State were Muslims. Therefore, Christians should bear in mind that our current marginalization will only become worse if he is voted as governor
“Christians in Kaduna state should kindly note the lopsided deployment of infrastructural development projects in Kaduna state. Massive projects in Sited in the Zazzau emirate council which consists of 10 local government areas, at the expense of Christian-dominated areas.
“That given the superlative performance of the PDP in the last elections, it is possible for the PDP to win the gubernatorial elections if the Christians add the votes they gave to the Labour party. Jonathan Asake doesn’t have any chance of getting the mandatory 25% in at least 2/5 of the local governments in Kaduna State.
“All Christians should kindly note that the Moslem-Moslem ticket at the national level has opened doors for possible persecution of Christians in Nigeria. Moslem-Moslem tickets in Kaduna State, therefore, must be stopped by all means necessary
“If we don’t stop the Moslem-Moslem ticket now, our future is doomed because even the PDP will also try the Moslem-Moslem ticket in 2027 if not stopped this time around. Niger state is a good example of how the Moslem- Christian ticket was discarded permanently.
The communiqué further said that a vote for LP is a complete waste, given its performance in the presidential elections.
