Federal High Court Makes Clarification On The Digitization Of The Lagos Judicial Division

Hon. Justice John Terhemba Tsoho, Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, has notified attorneys in the Lagos Judicial Division and the surrounding areas that the digitization transition that was originally planned to start on June 23, 2025, will still take place, but it will operate alongside the manual process—that is, a hybrid implementation of the policy.

According to a press release signed by the Chief Registrar of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Sulaiman Amida Hassan, Esq this decision has been taken to ensure a seamless and inclusive adoption of the e-filing transition, while addressing feedback and operational concerns received from stakeholders.

“It is important to clarify that this reform is being introduced with careful planning and in phases, taking into consideration the infrastructure, capacity and preparedness of users and staff. Also, it is to enhance access to justice and align with global best practices in judicial administration.

“Legal practitioners are still strongly encouraged to obtain and activate their Legal Mail accounts via https://nigerianbar.ng, as possession of a Legal Mail remains a key requirement for accessing the e-filing platform.

“Further updates and a new timeline for the full transition to the e-filing process will be communicated in due course,” the statement concluded.
