Countering False Narratives And Upholding Truth: The Case Of IGP Kayode Egbetokun

By Kelvin Adegbenga

1 John 4:1: “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.”

The recent publication titled “What God Told Me About the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun – Ayodele Reveals” is yet another attempt to distract the public and undermine the credible leadership currently steering the Nigeria Police Force.

At a time when the Force is undergoing critical reforms and sanitisation, such sensational claims, cloaked in religious rhetoric, only seek to sow doubt and confusion. They deserve to be addressed with clarity and truth.

Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has proven beyond a reasonable doubt to be a leader anchored on transparency, truth, and fairness.

His open-door approach to leadership has naturally rattled individuals within the Force and in certain political circles who thrive on secrecy, manipulation, and self-serving agendas.

These elements, who quietly conspire to weaken his reform agenda, should be assured that they will not succeed. The Nigeria Police Force has entered a new era of accountability, and those working behind the scenes to destabilise the institution will surely be exposed.

IGP Egbetokun remains steadfast, cautious yet decisive, in his leadership. His strength lies not just in authority but in his unwavering commitment to doing what is right for the Force and the nation. He does not bow to pressure nor allow noise to derail his vision. That is the hallmark of a true reformer.

One key area where his credibility stands tallest is in his uncompromising fight against corruption and internal sabotage. Unlike predecessors who often focused on external optics, Egbetokun has gone deep into the roots of the police system to sanitise it from within.

He understands that corruption is not merely an external threat; it is an internal poison, and he has never hesitated to confront it head-on.

There is no denying the fact that loyalty and sincerity are lacking in parts of the Force, a legacy problem built over decades. However, what matters is the clear evidence that IGP Egbetokun is putting professionalism, discipline, and integrity ahead of convenience.

He is restoring trust, rebuilding morale, and creating an atmosphere where ethical officers can finally breathe freely and serve with dignity.

At a time when spiritual rhetoric is being weaponised to distort public perception, it is crucial to heed the words of the scripture itself. Matthew 7:15-16 warns, “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognise them by their fruit.” Nigerians must learn to discern truth from theatrics, sincerity from staged prophecy, and reform from rebellion.

I must also commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for giving full support to the Inspector General of Police in his reform agenda. Leadership thrives when built on partnership and shared vision, and the President’s backing has enabled Egbetokun to push forward bold, long-needed transformations without hesitation.

In conclusion, the sincerity, courage, and transparency demonstrated by IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun since assuming office as the 22nd Indigenous Inspector General of Police have been nothing short of lifesaving for the Nigeria Police Force.

His leadership continues to protect the institution from collapse, confusion, and internal decay.

Nigerians must stand with truth and reject distractions masked in prophecy. Real leadership is not proven by noise but by consistent, visible fruits, and Egbetokun’s fruits speak loudly for themselves.
