The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, on Tuesday, 30th September 2025, held a strategic conference with senior officers of the Command at the Police Officers’ Mess, Asaba, where he emphasized professionalism, discipline, and intelligence-led policing.
According to a press release on Tuesday, 30th September 2025 signed by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafethe meeting, which was in line with the recent directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, set the tone for the Command’s next operational cycle, with a focus on effective highway enforcement, respect for human rights, and stronger community engagement.
CP Olufemi issued a stern warning to Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and tactical commanders against extortion and other unprofessional practices. He stressed that officers are not permitted to randomly stop residents to search mobile phones, describing the act as embarrassing and unacceptable. He vowed that any officer found culpable would face decisive disciplinary action.
Reaffirming the Command’s zero tolerance for extortion, unlawful detention, and excessive force, the CP directed senior officers to strengthen both pre-deployment briefings and post-deployment reviews. He also ordered intensified intelligence gathering around black spots, kidnap, and robbery-prone corridors, while urging closer collaboration with sister agencies and local communities.
Assuring residents of robust security during the ember months and upcoming festive season, CP Olufemi tasked his commanders to ensure full compliance with his directives across all units.
