The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu has described as senseless and unwarranted the attack and gruesome murder of four persons in the pre-dusk hours of April 28, 2024, at Ugwuijero Village in Nimbo community of Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area.
In a press release on Monday, 29th April 2024 signed by the Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, said that the CP has ordered the deployment of the Command’s operational and intelligence resources to sustain the ongoing operations to hunt down the assailants suspected to be herders.
He assured that the operations, which are directly under his command and control, will use everything at the disposal of the Police to bring the perpetrators to book.
The Commissioner made this known after accompanying the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah to visit the community for an on-the-spot assessment of the incident.
He commiserated with the immediate families of the victims, citizens of the Ugwuijero, and the entire Nimbo community over the unfortunate incident, noting that the Command will never allow incidents of this nature to persist anywhere in the State.
Consequently, the CP urged the people of the community and the entire citizenry to remain supportive, especially as the Police deploy community-policing-enabled kinetic and non-kinetic means to frontally tackle this manner of inconceivable violent crimes.
