The Commissioner of Police Delta State, Ari Muhammed Ali, has assured the state residents of a hitch-free Christmas celebration.
The command’s spokesman, DSP Bright Edafe, made this in a statement on Wednesday, December 21, 2022.
In line with this, the Commissioner of Police ordered massive deployment of personnel across the state to provide adequate security before, during and after the celebration, to ensure the protection and success of all activities lined up to mark the celebration.
Police Patrol teams have been drawn from Dragon Patrol, safer highways, Quick Response Squad, Rapid Response Squad, Quick Response Squad, and Eagle-Net Special Squad for this purpose, the PPRO said.
CP Ali also directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Tactical Commanders to deploy men to all venues of the celebration and other resort centres to prevent mischief makers from causing any form of mayhem and to ensure proper supervision of their men deployed.
The PPRO stated further that traffic control at the head bridge had equally been taken care of, as both police personnel and traffic wardens had been deployed solely for traffic control while the DPOs of ‘B’ and ‘C’ Divisions, Asaba and the State Traffic Officer had been tasked with the responsibility of working with other security agencies to ensure free flow of traffic.
“The CP has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations to organize continuous ‘Operation Show Of Force’ with effect from Tuesday 20th, to Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th December 2022 in all parts of the state and to be supervised by the eight Area Commanders to ensure a hitch-free Yuletide period,” it was said in the statement.
He urged members of the public to be law-abiding and continue to support the police in the fight against crime and criminality, assuring them of the Command’s commitment to providing security, maintenance of law and order, and protection of lives and property, among other duties.
On behalf of officers and men of the command, CP Ali wished all Delta residents a hitch-free celebration.
