The Delta State Police Command has recorded another round of operational breakthroughs in its ongoing efforts to rid the State of violent crimes, cultism, and armed robbery. Through sustained intelligence gathering, proactive patrols, and strengthened community collaboration, the Command successfully arrested a murder suspect in Agbor and busted a suspected cultist and armed robbery syndicate in Warri.
Murder Suspect Arrested in Agbor
Operatives attached to the Agbor Division have apprehended a prime suspect involved in the abduction and gruesome murder of a commercial motorcyclist, one Friday Orumgbe, aged 53, of Idumu Oza, Agbor, in Ika South Local Government Area.
According to reports, Orumgbe was declared missing on October 7, 2025, after he left home the previous day on his Lifan motorcycle and failed to return. Acting on a distress report, the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Michael Obekpa, launched a discreet investigation that led to the arrest of one Musa Buhari, aged 25, of Alihagu Village, Agbor, on October 16, 2025.
The suspect was found in possession of the victim’s phone—a Tecno T101 handset—and upon interrogation, confessed to committing the crime alongside an accomplice, Manu Usman, who is currently at large. The suspects reportedly lured the victim under the guise of being passengers, attacked him with a hoe along Power Line, Oki, Agbor, and fled with his motorcycle and phone.
On October 17, 2025, police operatives led the suspect to the crime scene, where the decomposed body of the victim was recovered and identified by family members. The remains were deposited at the Central Hospital Mortuary, Agbor, for autopsy, while investigations continue to apprehend the fleeing accomplice.
Cultist and Armed Robbery Syndicate Arrested in Warri
In a related development, operatives attached to ‘A’ Division, Warri, led by CSP Ya’u Kangiwa, acting on intelligence and the directive to enhance night patrols in volatile areas, arrested two suspected members of a cult and armed robbery syndicate in Ubeji community, Warri South Local Government Area.
At about 3:00 a.m. on October 19, 2025, a patrol team intercepted a gold-coloured Lexus 350 SUV with registration number KWL 359 DS (Abuja), parked suspiciously with two occupants—Christian Agbajor Akpos, aged 33, and Sophia Thomas, aged 26. Upon interrogation, both suspects failed to give a credible account of their movement, prompting a search of the vehicle.
The search led to the recovery of one locally made cut-to-size double-barrel gun, one battle axe, one live cartridge, and one expended cartridge. Preliminary investigation revealed that the male suspect, Akpos, is a member of both the MAPHITE confraternity and the Neo-Black Movement (NBM). He further confessed that the firearm was supplied by one Mr Shimaye, identified as the Deputy Chairman of the Ubeji community.
Both suspects are in custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate and recover additional arms.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, commended the officers for their professionalism and swift action. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to combating crime through intelligence-driven and community-based policing strategies, assuring residents of sustained efforts to protect lives and property across the State.
