Delta Police Arrest Serial Killer, Prison Escapee And Defilement Suspect

The Delta State Police Command has announced the arrest of a suspected serial killer and prison escapee, as well as a pastor accused of defilement, rape, and sexual assault in separate incidents across the state.

Serial Killer, Prison Escapee Arrested

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the arrest of a suspected serial murderer, Michael Ezenwai, followed a complaint received on October 24, 2025, by the Divisional Police Officer in Agbor. The suspect had attempted to sell a phone believed to be stolen.

Police operatives swiftly moved to the scene and apprehended Ezenwai. During interrogation, the suspect initially claimed he brought the phone from Libya. However, the truth began to unfold when the phone rang later that day, and the caller disclosed that the device belonged to her sister, Christabel Egedefe.

Acting on the information, the DPO and his team visited Christabel’s residence, where she was found dead in her apartment. Ezenwai later confessed to murdering the 26-year-old woman during a robbery operation on October 23, 2025, after she resisted efforts to take her motorcycle keys. He also stole her mobile phones.

Further investigations linked the suspect to the notorious 2020 rape and murder of Uwaila Omorizuwa, a 200-level UNIBEN student killed inside a church where she had gone to study. Police also confirmed that Ezenwai escaped from Oko Correctional Centre during the EndSARS jailbreak in 2020.

He remains in custody as investigations continue.

Pastor Arrested for Defilement, Rape

In a separate development, the command arrested a pastor of Omega Prophetic Prayer Ministry, Sapele, following allegations of defilement and sexual assault.

The police said a petition received on October 13, 2025, accused the cleric, identified as Pastor Daniel Ololo, of using fake prophecies to lure vulnerable female church members into his office, coercing them into sexual acts under the guise of “deliverance.”

Investigations conducted by the State Criminal Investigation Department revealed that Ololo allegedly had unlawful carnal knowledge of three sisters from the same family, including a 17-year-old minor. The pastor was arrested on November 17 at his church premises.

He is currently in custody as investigations progress.
