The Delta State Police Command has recorded major breakthroughs in its ongoing operations against cultism, armed criminality, and the unlawful possession of firearms in different parts of the state.
In two coordinated operations carried out in Agbor and Warri, police operatives successfully arrested suspected cultists and recovered several locally fabricated weapons, mobile devices, and an abandoned tricycle.
Two Suspected Cultists Arrested in Agbor
On November 8, 2025, at about 5:35 p.m., the Command acted on credible intelligence indicating that suspected members of the Eiye Confraternity were mobilising at Ojeifo Street by Iduwe, Agbor.
The Divisional Police Officer of Agbor Division, CSP Michael Obekpa, led patrol teams and the Civilian Anti-Cult Unit to the location.
The operatives swiftly arrested two suspected notorious cult members:
- Agu Nnamdi, male, of Ohumere Quarters, Agbor
- Promise Banco, male, of No. 36 Iduwe by Ojeifo Street, Agbor-Obi
A locally fabricated pistol concealed in a black nylon bag was recovered from the suspects. They are currently in custody as investigations intensify to apprehend other fleeing members of the group.

In a separate operation on November 16, 2025, at about 9:30 a.m., surveillance operatives from ‘B’ Division, Warri, led by CSP Josephine Ekebuike, were on patrol along Arubi Street off DECO Road when they noticed a tricycle rider speeding dangerously against traffic with two passengers on board.
The operatives pursued the tricycle into First Marine Quarters, where the rider and passengers abandoned the vehicle and escaped through adjoining streets. A search of the tricycle revealed:
- Two locally fabricated double-barrelled guns
- Nine assorted mobile phones
- Four power banks
- One screwdriver
The area has been cordoned off as operatives intensify stop-and-search operations to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, commended the operatives for their swift response and reiterated the Command’s determination to rid the state of criminal networks and illegal firearms.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to law enforcement, assuring them of confidentiality and prompt action.
