Delta Police To Enforce Tinted Glass Regulations

….. Reaffirms ban on sirens, flashing lights, and tampered number plates

The Delta State Police Command has announced that full enforcement of vehicle regulations on tinted glass will begin on Thursday, October 2, 2025, in line with federal laws and directives.

In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the police assured that the operation will be carried out with professionalism, respect for constitutional rights, and zero tolerance for abuse.

The Command also reiterated the ban on unauthourized use of sirens and revolving/strobe lights, as well as covering, defacing, or obstructing number plates by private individuals and officials not entitled to such privileges.

Motorists were reminded to carry valid documents—including driver’s licence, insurance, and proof of ownership—and to ensure their vehicle glass meets legal transparency standards. Unauthourized sirens and flashing lights must be removed, while number plates are required to remain clear, legible, and properly fixed at all times.

Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, stressed that the clampdown aims to end road intimidation, curb misuse of illegal accessories, and enhance public safety. He directed Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to monitor enforcement closely and ensure civility and respect for human rights during operations.

He further warned that defaulters will face the full weight of the law and encouraged the public to report any cases of misconduct through the Command’s Complaint Response Unit via 09155570008, 09011112311, 09064308018, or 09066575187.
