The Nigerian Youth and Women for Good Governance Services on Monday, 31st March 2025, said that there is no marginalization of the South-East and South-South in the deployment of police commissioners to state commands, as published by the mischievous The Supreme News.
Responding to a publication titled “Tribalism Rocks Police, IGP Egbetokun, PSC Chair Argungu In Trouble”, the National Coordinator of the SWYA, Adenike Ajanlekoko, said that deployment of police commissioners was based on professionalism and competence.
“It is baseless and mischievous of the publisher to have said that ‘in total disregard to the rules and regulations of the Police Act regarding the deployment of CPs to state commands, Argungu and Egbetokun, either for their personal interests or for regional sentiments, approved and deployed CPs from the Southwest to about (9) nine states of the federation.
“The Commissioners of Police were deployed based on their strength, and we strongly believe they were deployed not only to Commands but also to zones and formations aimed at complimenting the renewed hope of President Tinubu as well as the vision of IGP Egbetokun, which is centered around a professional, service-driven, rule-of-law compliant, and community-oriented force that effectively supports the government’s agenda for economic recovery, growth, and social development, Ajanlekoko said.
She said further, “The South-South and South-East regions, to the best of our knowledge, are not marginalized, as they hold sensitive and ‘juicy’ positions better than many state commands.
“There is no arousing tension in the police as made believe by The Supreme News, as police officers from the South South and the South East are holding “juicy” positions. The South-East alone is having two DIGs, while the assistant inspectors-general holding sensitive office include AIG Kanayo Uzuegbu, AIG Zone 9, Umuahia; AIG Chukwudi Chris Ariekpere, AIG FCID Annex, Enugu; AIG Godwin I. Eze, AIG DFA, Force Headquarters, Abuja; AIG Clement Robert, AIG Community Policing, Research & Planning, Force Headquarters, Abuja;
Others are COMPOL Ohagwu Felix Ndukwe, CP PSFU Abuja; COMPOL Hope Okafor, CP Admin at FCID Abuja; COMPOL Rosemary Okpoho Akpan, CMDT at Detective College Enugu; and COMPOL Eloho Edwin Okpoziakpo, CP CPTU STAFFPOL in Jos.
The CSO, therefore, called on Nigerians to disregard the mischievous publication aimed at causing disaffection within the professionalised police force
