Destiny Ekhorutomwen Arrest Was Never Orchestrated By The Force PRO, Muyiwa Adejobi Says Youth Alliance

The Integrity Youth Alliance, an organisation that has been monitoring the development trends in the Nigeria Police Force for over 15 years, has corrected a false publication by Sahara Reporters on the person of the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

Reacting to a publication titled “BREAKING: Blogger Destiny Ekhorutomwen Jailed By Police PPRO Muyiwa Adejobi Collapses In Police Custody, Hospitalised At National Hospital,” the Publicity Director of the Alliance, Danjuma Lamido, said Destiny Ekhorutomwen, a TikToker, was arrested and detained by the Nigeria Police for cyberbullying and cyberstalking.

“We recall that on the 28th of June, 2022, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command arrested one Vincent Enuneku for impersonating an Assistant Superintendent of Police and having a substance suspected to be Indian hemp. The suspect, who hailed from Ndokwa Local Government Area of Delta State, was arrested by the operatives of the anti-cultism squad of the command.

“Even though the police had officially debunked this fake news, Destiny Ekhorutomwen made several videos on it and other topical national issues full of lies and misinformation.

“Although the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, had stated that the arrest was made by the National Cyber Crime Centre in Uhunmwonde Local Government Area of Edo State, Sahara Reporters, known for spreading falsehood to attack the credibility of the police, as usual went to publication that ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi orchestrated the arrest of Destiny Ekhorutomwen.

“Our investigation revealed that Destiny Ekhorutomwen created and operated multiple social media accounts to spread false and inciting content designed to provoke the public against the Nigeria Police.

“Instead of Sowore, who is the publisher of Sahara Reporters (known for spreading falsehood) and a former failed presidential candidate for African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2023 General Elections, condemn the act of cyberbullying and cyberstalking done by Destiny Ekhorutomwen; rather, he was supporting it with fake news because he has access to a news website, Danjuma Lamido said.
