Douye Diri Second Term Is Sacrosanct

By Adewole Kehinde

“A rising tide doesn’t raise people who don’t have a boat. We have to build the boat for them. We have to give them the basic infrastructure to rise with the tide”, Rahul Gandhi

Gov. Douye Diri is a man whose unwavering commitment to his communities transcends the ordinary, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of those he serves.
Once again, I will be looking at the prosperity and achievements of a governor with vision and dedication.

Diri’s integrity has brought more development to the state with the latest commissioning of Glory Drive dual carriageway, a 10.2-kilometer road project by the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III, last Thursday.

The governor has exemplified ethical conduct and a dedication to transparency in governance, and there is no doubt that his unblemished track record will earn him a second term in office.

Since his assumption of office on February 14, 2020, as Governor of Bayelsa State, the state has recorded significant transformative journeys that have brought about holistic development and progress in Bayelsa State.

Bayelsa State has witnessed remarkable progress across various sectors under Gov. Douye Diri, including education, infrastructure development, agriculture, job creation, healthcare transformation, etc.

Health, they say, is wealth. The health sector in Bayelsa State has witnessed a remarkable transformation under Governor Diri’s leadership. Investments in healthcare infrastructure, medical personnel training, and the provision of affordable healthcare services have been instrumental in improving the overall health and well-being of the populace.

A proper education sets people up to grow personally, professionally, and socially. Governor Diri has implemented policies to revamp the educational sector in Bayelsa State. This includes the construction and renovation of schools, the provision of scholarships, and the enhancement of the overall quality of education.

According to Thomas Jefferson, agriculture is our wisest pursuit because it will in the end contribute most to real wealth, good morals, and happiness. In a bid to empower the youth and reduce unemployment, Diri has invested heavily in agriculture and agribusiness. This approach has not only created job opportunities but has also enhanced food security in the state.

Infrastructure is the backbone of economic growth. It improves access to basic services such as clean water and electricity, creates jobs, and boosts business. Governor Douye Diri’s administration has prioritized infrastructure development, with a focus on road construction, healthcare facilities, and urban renewal projects. These efforts have not only improved the standard of living for residents but have also attracted investments and boosted economic growth.

There is no doubt that Gov. Douye Diri has written his name in the infrastructural book of Bayelsa State.

His persistent commitment to the betterment of Bayelsa State and its people has not only altered the state but also acted as an inspiration to aspiring leaders around the world.

As he leads Bayelsa to greater heights, it is evident that his legacy will live on, leaving an indelible stamp on the pages of history.

Harvey S. Firestone once said, “The growth and development of people is the highest calling of leadership.”

I call on all eligible voters in Bayelsa State to come out en masse on November 11th, 2023, to vote for the PDP, the umbrella party that Gov. Douye Diri is contesting under so that the prosperity and development of the state will continue.
