The Integrity Youth Alliance, an organisation that has monitored development trends in the Nigeria Police Force for over 15 years, has condemned the sponsored publication by the serial disinformation medium, The Supreme News.
Reacting to a publication titled “Don’t Die in Office, Officers Urge IGP Egbetokun to Resign Over Health Challenge,” the National Coordinator of the Alliance, Kelvin Adegbenga, said it is an absolute lie from the pit of hell that “IGP Egbetokun does not spend more than five hours a day in the office.
“We can say boldly that Egbetokun works more than twelve hours every day attending to files, meetings, visitors, etc., aimed at a police force that is not only numerically stronger but also more professional, rule-of-law compliant, service-driven, people-friendly and community-oriented, Adegbenga said.
“We are aware that those who are mischievously looking to take over the office of the Inspector-General of Police are all out with various fabricated misinformation against IGP Kayode Egbetokun, but they will always fail as usual because this is a man God has blessed with sound health and mind according to Psalm 118:17: ‘I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.’
“To further prove that the news was sponsored, the fictitious publication said, ‘He should resign. Let him go and rest. He has made money to take care of his life. Egbetokun is a contented police officer who is not after acquiring wealth, considering his humble beginning.
The statement further said there is no worsening insecurity in the country; therefore, Egbetokun is not overwhelmed, as falsely reported by the sponsor of misinformation on Supreme News.
“It is an absolute lie from the pit of hell that IGP Egbetokun is not taking the welfare of police personnel into cognisance. It was in the news that under his management team, over N22 billion has so far been paid out to the families of fallen officers under the Group Life Assurance Cheques and the IGP Family Welfare Insurance.
“In January 2025, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, distributed new kits and uniforms to police officers nationwide; the gesture reaffirms the IGP’s commitment to improving officers’ welfare and boosting their morale.
“In many fora, Egbetokun always expressed optimism that, with the approval of the 2025 budget, more welfare-focused projects will be implemented to further support officers to carry out their duties effectively.
“As an organisation that has been monitoring the development trends in the Nigeria Police, we can boldly say that no junior police officers are warming up for a nationwide strike. It is just a figment of the sponsored imagination.
“On a final note, we call on the Inspector-General of Police to concentrate on his mission for the Nigeria Police Force, which centres around strengthening the force’s integrity, professionalism, and ability to serve the public. Nigerians and the international community are happy with various initiatives like community engagement, modern policing techniques, and digital technology that are already improving efficiency and effectiveness.
“His leadership style of collaboration, accountability, and proactive crime prevention stood him out among the past Inspector Generals of Police. Adegbemga said.
