The Emir of Lafia, HRH Justice Sidi Bage (rtd), has said Nasarawa State governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, has the capacity and experience, to provide leadership in North Central Nigeria.

The royal father stated this while hosting the Nasarawa governor, in his palace, on Wednesday.

According to the Emir, there is every need for the people of the zone, to emphasize what unites the people, rather than focus on what divides them, stressing that, with his capacity and experience, Engineer Sule, can lead the way on how the North Central can exploit its enormous potential, to the benefit of the people.

HRH Justice Sidi Bage (rtd), commended the unity existing between political leaders in the state, especially the relationship between Engineer Sule and his immediate past predecessor, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-makura.

While commending the governor, for continuing with the projects left by his predecessors, the royal father, equally appreciated Senator Al-makura, for not only being instrumental to the emergence of Engineer Sule as governor, but also acknowledging that the incumbent governor could surpass him in bringing about development across the state.

The royal father assured Engineer Sule of the continuous support of the Lafia emirate council, as well as the entire Lafia Local Government Area.

Earlier, in his opening remarks, governor Abdullahi Sule, said he was at the palace, in continuation of his meet-the-people tour, to commemorate the second year anniversary of his administration.

While acknowledging the prevailing peace in Lafia, the state capital and to some extent, across the entire state, the governor appreciated the royal father for the critical role he played in keeping the peace.

Engineer Sule noted that the prevailing peace didn’t come easily, but for the hard work, from people like the Emir of Lafia, who have continued to stand by and support the administration at any given opportunity.

The governor said that his administration will be clocking two years in a few days, with the meet-the-people tour as part of activities commemorating the anniversary, aimed at affording him the opportunity to meet directly with the people, and to hear from them, irrespective of political, religious or ethnic differences.

According to Engineer Sule, the people should be able to criticize his administration, as well as commend wherever necessary, stressing that, only the people can rate the administration.

The governor assured that he will not be swayed by praises, pointing out that his administration is committed to achieving its set objective.

As one of those who hold traditional titles in the Lafia emirate council, Engineer Sule, who doubles as the Barayan Lafia, said he is taking it upon himself, to personally change the face of the palace of the Emir of Lafia.

The Barayan Lafia announced that, already, Architect Shehu Tukur, has completed a new design that will take the palace to the next level, and that it’s only awaiting the approval of the Emir, for work to commence, that will give the palace a befitting look.
