
The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, psc, has ordered a comprehensive deployment of police personnel and resources to ensure safe, peaceful and hitch-free Christmas and New Year celebrations across the state.
The directive, which aligns with the nationwide security strategy of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, is aimed at implementing a proactive and intelligence-driven policing approach during the festive season and beyond in Enugu State.
In line with the order, CP Giwa directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and heads of tactical, operational and traffic units to intensify crime-prevention patrols, visibility policing and traffic control on major roads, streets and other public places. He also mandated sustained intelligence-led operations, confidence-building engagements with communities, and the identification and raiding of criminal hideouts within their respective areas.

The Commissioner further directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations to directly supervise the Yuletide security operations, ensuring that all deployed officers conduct themselves with firmness, professionalism and courtesy. He assured residents and visitors of effective collaboration between the Police and other security agencies to guarantee a peaceful and memorable festive season.
