Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested a 25-year-old man, identified as Orlu Chukwuemeka, for alleged involvement in a one-chance-styled kidnapping and armed robbery in Enugu.
Police authorities said the suspect was apprehended around 6:00 a.m. on December 6, 2025, after operatives from the New Haven Division and the Distress Response Squad responded swiftly to a distress call. Investigations indicated that the suspect and an accomplice, still on the run, disguised as operators of an unregistered white mini bus and abducted a female passenger along Chime Avenue, Fourth Dimension, Enugu.
During the incident, the suspects reportedly stabbed the victim before pushing her out of the moving vehicle after robbing her of an Android phone and an ATM card. Police operatives trailed the attackers within the Independence Layout area, leading to the arrest of Chukwuemeka, while the second suspect fled.
The victim was taken to the hospital and later regained consciousness, police said, adding that she subsequently identified the arrested suspect as one of her attackers.
Police further confirmed that the suspect has been arraigned in court and remanded in custody, as efforts continue to apprehend the fleeing accomplice.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, commended public-spirited individuals whose timely information aided the arrest. He restated the Command’s commitment to tackling violent crimes during the Yuletide and urged residents to continue offering credible security information.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the development in a statement issued on December 9, 2025.
