Enugu Police Commissioner Receives ECOWAS Election Observers, NAF Base Commander

In view of the forthcoming 2023 General Elections, the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Ahmed Ammani on Friday, 17th February 2023, received and interacted with an advanced team of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Election Observers, in his Office at the State Headquarters, G.R.A., Enugu.

According to a press release by the Enugu State Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, said the Team, made up of Mrs. Amie Joof and Mrs. Yao Akossua Fossua Mariette (ECOWAS Long-term Observers), stated that the essence of the visit was to inform the CP of their arrival, seek security advisories and the general support of the Police during the period of the Elections in the State.

The Commissioner, while warmly welcoming the Observers, provided them with the necessary security advisories and reiterated the Command’s preparedness to provide adequate security for all and sundry during the Elections and beyond.

The CP also received the newly posted Commander of the 553 Base Services Group of the Nigerian Air Force Enugu, Air Commodore Obinna Chidiebere Obiabaka, who similarly paid him a courtesy and familiarisation visit.

The Commander stated that the essence of the visit was to, among other things, familiarize and strengthen the existing collaboration and robust working relationship between the Base Group and the Command, especially because of ensuring the provision of adequate security for a peaceful, safe, and secured 2023 General Elections in the State.

The Commissioner, while courteously welcoming the Commander, assured him of the Police’s unreserved willingness to strengthen the existing collaboration and foster a more cordial working relationship with the Base Group, particularly in the area of ensuring that the 2023 General Elections are conducted under an atmosphere of utmost peace, security, and safety of the citizenry of Enugu State.

The CP was joined by the State Command’s Management Team members and Staff Officers to receive and interact with the visitors.
