Police operatives of the Enugu State Command have recovered a Toyota Avensis car reported stolen over three months ago in Otukpo, Benue State, and arrested three suspects in connection with the crime.
The vehicle, which was stolen on June 29, 2025, was recovered on October 13, 2025, at about 2:10 p.m., by officers attached to Unity Division, Enugu, following a security tip-off that led to the arrest of the suspects at Ibagwa-Nike, Enugu.
Those arrested have been identified as Ernest Oshi (51 years), Ukpai Ifeanyi (36 years), and Ogbuzulu David (32 years).
Preliminary investigations revealed that Oshi bought the stolen vehicle from Ifeanyi, a mechanic, who had earlier purchased it from David, a car dealer. David, in turn, claimed to have bought the vehicle from another mechanic in Benue State. The suspects reportedly confessed to their respective levels of involvement as the investigation continues.
According to the Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the suspects and the recovered vehicle have been handed over to the Benue State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution, being the jurisdiction where the theft occurred.
