The paramount traditional ruler of Doma Local Government Area, the Andoma of Doma, HRH Alhaji Ahmadu Aliyu Ogah Onawo, has tasked Nasarawa State governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, towards ensuring physical development across all the local government and development areas of the state.

The Andoma laid the charge when he hosted the governor in his palace in Doma, as part of activities marking the second year anniversary of Engineer Sule administration, on Tuesday.

Specifically, the royal father, called on the governor to endeavour to surpass the development strides of his immediate past predecessor, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-makura, by opening up the LGs and development areas, through the construction of roads and hospitals.

While appreciating Senator Al-makura, for the role he played in ensuring that Engineer Sule becomes governor, the royal father however called on the former governor not to rest on his oars, but to continue to support his successor to do even better than he did while he was in power.

The Andoma further tasked Engineer Sule on translating all resources coming to the state into physical development, stressing that, the development strides of the administration, will be its selling point come 2023.

The Doma paramount traditional ruler, however, drew the attention of the governor, to persistent conflicts at the boundary between Nasarawa and Benue state, adding that the Idadu/Agbashi road, when completed, will address most of the challenges along the border areas.

He also called on the state government to construct a befitting market in Doma, as well as a square where people of the council can gather on occasions.

Responding, Engineer Sule, said he was in the palace of the Andoma, in continuation of his meet-the-people tour across the state, adding that the administration finds it appropriate to listen to the people as they assess the administration, which will be two years, in a few days.

According to the governor, the tour, which defines true democracy, affords the people the opportunity to speak their minds, on his stewardship so far, saying he is willing to take genuine criticism, as well as commendations.

Engineer Sule commended traditional rulers in the state, especially the Andoma, for the role they continue to play, towards ensuring peace and security across the state.

The governor acknowledged that there are challenges, especially along the boundary with Benue State, with such incidences flowing into the Doma Local Government Area, in areas such as Akpanaja, Rukuni and Idadu, adding that his administration has been on top of the situation.

Engineer Sule assured that all those who don’t want to see the people of the area live in peace, they will also not see peace in their lives.

The governor pointed out that Doma Local Government Area holds great potentials, but that his administration holds great ideas to explore, exploit these potentials, for the benefit of all.

Engineer Sule announced a personal donation of ten million naira, as support for the Andoma, to furnish his palace.
