The Etsu Nupe and Chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar has urged Nupes at home and in the Diaspora, to continue to be united, as well as be their brother’s keepers’ for the area to move forward.

Alhaji Abubakar spoke recently when the new Madaki Nupe, Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar Zukogi, former Director General, Value Added Tax (VAT), paid him a “Thank You” visit on the title he bestowed on him at the Wadata palace, Bida.

The monarch said that, “it is only when the people of the domain are united that we can forge ahead and foster the socio economic development of Nupe kingdom, Niger State and indeed Nigeria,

“We must all unite to bring speedy development to Kin Nupe and to as well attract good things to the area,” Etsu Nupe said

The Royal Father explained that wealth bestowed on individuals by Almighty Allah is meant to be shared and not hoarded.

The Traditional Ruler therefore stressed the need for wealthy Nupes to always assist their less privileged brothers and sisters, to alleviate their suffering.

Alhaji Abubakar further restated his commitment that traditional institutions would always honour those who contributed to the development of Nupe Kingdom, the state, country and humanity.

“Those that are given traditional titles are people of proven integrity who show concern to the development and socio-economic well being of the emirate.”

He said the honour was to encourage others to live exemplary lives, in any position, for the general good of the country.

In his response, the new Madaki Nupe, Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar Zukogi, promised that, he will not fail the Etsu Nupe, Bida Emirate and Niger state in the discharge of his responsibilities

He commended the Etsu Nupe for bestowing the honour on him.

Zukogi thanked God and the Monarch for the honour and pledged to uphold the throne of Kin Nupe Emirate.

Also commenting on the development, a friend and confidant of Alhaji Abubakar Zukogi, Dr Makun Halilu-Abdulkadir, Rani Nupe, lauded the Etsu Nupe for bestowing the honour on the new title holder .

Dr Halidu said the gesture was an indication of the tremendous confidence he had in the conferee.

Rani Nupe also promised that, Zukogi would justify the confidence reposed in him as the gesture would spur him to do more for the growth of Kin Nupe
