… says no one should politicise the death of his deputy
… as Jonathan describes the late deputy as humble
His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State, today received former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in a condolence visit over the death of the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, in Government House, Yenagoa.
The Governor thanked former President Goodluck Jonathan for the condolence visit and urged Bayelsans not to politicise his deputy’s death, saying, “There’s no enmity in death.”
He stressed that those offering condolences should do so with love, as there were various discussions on social media regarding his deputy’s passing.
“And I like to use this opportunity to appeal to our people. I have seen people politicising this death. In Ijaw land, there is no enmity in death. Let nobody politicise the death of our dearly beloved deputy governor.
If anybody loves him, this is the time to show it. If we don’t know how he died, let me say clearly today that I have directed an autopsy that will reveal the cause of his death.

And, if anybody is issuing any statement to eulogise the deputy governor, please end it at eulogising him and mourn him”, Governor Diri said
Former President Goodluck Jonathan described the late Deputy Governor as a humble man who made a positive impact during his tenure.
He conveyed his condolences to the Ofoni Federated community, the family, and the people of Bayelsa State.
The former President, in the company of the Governor, thereafter visited the widow, Her Excellency, Mrs Beatrice Ewhrudjakpo, in their residence.
